Authenticity & provenance
Every painting and print bought from this studio comes with its own certificate of authenticity. It arrives by email as a PDF as soon as the order is paid, carries a unique number and a QR code, and is recorded in the studio’s registry, where anyone holding the number can check it at silviero.com/verify.

What the certificate is for
A certificate is not decoration. It is the document that lets the work be insured, resold, lent to an exhibition or passed on. Without it, a painting is an object; with it, a painting has a history that can be checked.
Keep it with the work. The certificate is a record, not only a document: if the PDF is ever lost, the registry still holds it and the studio can send it again.
What it records
The title and the year, the medium and the support, the size, the edition, the date of issue and the name of the person it was issued to. The page behind the QR code shows the same record, with the owner reduced to initials and a country, so a photograph of the certificate gives nothing away.
Each number belongs to one copy of one work: two copies in the same order receive two numbers. The numbers are random rather than consecutive, so they cannot be guessed and say nothing about how many works have been sold.
Originals, prints and editions
An original is a single object. It is signed, it is recorded, and it is not reproduced at the same size or on the same surface.
A print reproduces the work on canvas, printed to order. Prints are open editions and are described as open, never presented as limited. If the studio ever releases a limited edition, its run size will be stated on the product page and on every certificate in it.
Returns and cancellations
If a work is returned or an order is cancelled, its certificate is cancelled in the registry and the verification page says so plainly. A certificate only ever vouches for a work that someone actually owns.
Places
A Places canvas receives a certificate like any other work. It records the place, its coordinates and the date, so the painting of a place that matters to you carries its own proof of where it came from.
Questions
- Does every work come with a certificate of authenticity?
- Yes. Every painting and print bought from the studio comes with its own numbered certificate, emailed as a PDF as soon as the order is paid. That includes Places canvases, made from the map of a place you choose.
- How do I check a certificate?
- Scan the QR code on it, or enter its number at silviero.com/verify. The page shows whether the certificate is valid and which work it belongs to.
- What is the difference between an original and a print?
- An original is the painted work itself — one object, made once. A print reproduces the work with pigment inks on poly-cotton canvas, stretched over solid wood bars and made to order. Prints are far more affordable, and each one has its own certificate.
- Can I resell a work and transfer the certificate?
- Yes. The certificate travels with the work. Write to the studio with its number and the new owner’s name, and the registry will be updated, so provenance stays continuous.
