- What is the difference between an original and a print?
- An original is the painted work itself: one object, made once, signed, and not reproduced at the same size or surface. A print reproduces the work with pigment inks on canvas, made to order from the artist’s own file. Both come from this studio; only one is unique, and both come with a certificate.
- What size print should I buy?
- Measure the wall, not the room. As a rule, a single work looks right at roughly half to two-thirds the width of the furniture below it. When in doubt, go one size up — the most common regret is a print that is too small for its wall.
- Are prints numbered?
- Every print has its own certificate number, recorded in the studio’s registry. Prints are open editions, though, and are described as open — the studio never presents an open edition as limited. If a limited edition is ever released, its run size will be stated on the product page and on each certificate.
- Do prints arrive framed?
- As you choose. Unframed, the canvas arrives stretched over solid wood bars with the picture carried round the edges, ready to hang. Or choose a floating pine frame — black, brown or white — in most sizes: the canvas sits inside it with a slim shadow gap and arrives ready to hang too.
- How does Places work?
- You choose a place on the map, a palette and a size. The real coastline, water, streets and relief of that spot become a painting, which is printed on canvas and stretched for you. You see the finished painting before you order.
- Can I order a painting of a place that matters to me?
- That is exactly what Places is for. Any point on earth can be used — a coastline, the street you grew up on, the town where you married.
- How long until my order arrives?
- Prints and Places canvases are produced to order, usually within a few working days, plus delivery.
- Is my payment secure?
- Card payments are handled by Stripe. Card details go directly to Stripe and never reach this site’s servers.
- Can I commission a painting?
- Yes. Write with the size, the room it is for and any subject you have in mind. You will get an honest answer about whether the commission suits the work.
