Lilac Before the Heat

There are about two hours in the morning when this garden belongs to the bees. The lilac hangs over the hedge as if it had been asked to decorate a party that never quite happened. Somebody clips the hedges into rooms nobody uses. By eleven the heat arrives and the colours go flat and polite; this is the part before that, when everything is still a little out of order.

The canvas

• Printed with fade-resistant inks on poly-cotton canvas, 344 g/m²
• Hand-stretched over solid wood bars, 3.18 cm (1.25″) deep
• Gallery wrap: the sides continue the picture as a mirror of its edges, so nothing on the front is lost around the frame
• Arrives ready to hang, mounting brackets included
• Vertical 2:3, in four sizes from 30 × 46 cm (12 × 18″) to 61 × 91 cm (24 × 36″)
• Unframed, or in a floating pine frame — black, brown or white — in 30 × 46, 51 × 76 and 61 × 91 cm
