The Moon Came Early

The moon showed up before anyone had finished the afternoon and is now waiting politely over the hills. The hills have gone the violet they only go in October. Down in the scrub the crickets have not been told it is evening yet. She stopped on the path because it is rare to see both at once, the day not finished and the night already here, and because nobody else on the path looked up.
